A man later identified as Kenneth Pohlit was spotted stumbling around near Grandview Drive and Golf Course Road around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, Carroll Township police said.

Pohlit's vehicle was spotted at the American Legion on Route 15 South. When officers arrived, Pohlit was standing outside of his car with the trunk and passenger side door open, police said.

As officers called to the male to make contact with him, he ignored them and got into his vehicle and pulled away. As the officers attempted to make a traffic stop, Pohlit sped up, causing sparks to come from the rim — which no longer had a tire on it.

Officers followed the vehicle for about 3/4 of a mile, reaching speeds of about 100 mph — until they stopped for the safety of the public, authorities said.

A short time later, an individual reported a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed near Route 15 and Gettysburg Pike. When officers arrived in the area, they located scrape marks on the pavement.

Officers were able to follow the scrape marks into Cumberland County and found the vehicle and driver near the Yellow Breeches Creek. The vehicle and individual were both found to the be the same individual whom had fled from officers earlier, police said.

As officers made contact with the male, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was smelled coming from the driver. The driver was subsequently identified as Kenneth Pohlit. While checking his information, police found Pohlit was driving on a suspended drivers license, had no insurance on the vehicle and was drunk, authorities said.

Pohlit was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Central Booking Center where he was arraigned on charges.
